Is Jeep making a truck?
Americans definitely love their trucks, and we also love American brand trucks above all else. We love Ram trucks, Chevy trucks, GMC trucks, and Ford trucks, but there’s about to be a new American truck to choose from. Who’s making it? Is Jeep making a truck? Yes they are, and we can tell you all about it.
What is the new Jeep truck called?
The new Jeep truck should look pretty familiar. It looks a lot like a Wrangler with a bed on the back, and you may be happy to learn that it is essentially that. It is not, however, called a Wrangler. It’s called the Gladiator, and it’s named after an earlier Jeep truck of the same name.

Jeep has actually made trucks in various forms since 1947, and they only stopped making trucks in 1992. The Jeep Gladiator/J-Series was made from 1963 to 1987, though the Gladiator name was dropped from the model in 1972. For the 2020 model year though, the Gladiator is back and better than ever.
Capability of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator
Since the Gladiator is based off the Wrangler, you can expect it to be extremely capable. For starters, it will have a four-wheel-drive drivetrain standard, and it has two impressive engines available too. You can choose between a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 or a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6.
The 2020 Gladiator will be capable of towing up to 7,650 pounds and it can handle up to 1,600 pounds of payload capacity. On top of that, you will be able to ford up to 30-inches of water safely. Of course, since this is based on the Wrangler, you will also get to enjoy removable doors, a removable roof, and a fold-down windshield.
When will the 2020 Jeep Gladiator be available?
The Gladiator will be available in the second quarter of 2019.
