Best Places to Take a Hike Near Redding, CA 

Northern California is a beautiful place in which to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. If you’re lucky enough to call the Redding area home, you already know this, but you might not know some of the best places to get out and take a hike.

Spots for Hiking Near Redding 

Lower Sacramento Ditch Trail 

A 5.5-mile loop, this trail offers views of the area’s mining past, following the path of an old mining railroad and former residences of miners.

Crags Trail to Castle Dome 

If you live in Redding, you may have to take a bit of a drive to get to this one, but the 50-mile car trip is well worth it to enjoy this 7-mile hike that gives you a view of granite domes and spires. 

Cinder Cone 

This one probably isn’t for beginning hikers, but between the black earth and tremendous views at the top, it’s well worth the physical activity. 

Brokeoff Mountain 

One of the best mountain views you’re bound to find is found via the Brokeoff trail. Plus, you get a bit of everything, from forests to meadows and more.
